A Warm Glow
Long Island Spiritist Doctrine Studies
Researchers at the National Institutes of Health have recently
monitored the brain activity of people who either chose or chose not
to give to charities, what they found was that, For charitable giving,
their imaging study "strongly supports the existence of 'warm glow' at
a biological level," said Dr. Jorge Moll, the lead researcher. The more
technology advances and the more we begin to understand how our
brains work the more we begin to understand how ingeniously we
have been designed. Whatever your definition of God is, it has been
hard wired into our DNA. When we do things that are good for us, i.e.
Practice charity, pray, meditate, educate our minds, love our
neighbors, resist temptations, follow the teachings of the Christ, we
fulfill a biological need. The part of the brain that is stimulated is the
same that is stimulated by sex, drugs, food and money. How
interesting it is that we artificially stimulate the part of the brain that
would be naturally stimulated by simply doing what is right and good.
“Many people think they should not do anything for others unless it
has a material benefit for them”, said Dr. Moll, “But our brains show
that you profit emotionally from doing so. Something in our brains
shaped by evolution allows us to feel joy when we do good things. It
is a biological force”. Just keep in mind, feeling good should not be the
driving force behind acts of charity and goodness. It is a duty to give...
not a choice.
